Foodtree is Hiring

We live in a backwards world. It is strange to know where our food comes from. Foods that are grown and processed without adulteration have to prove it, but chemicals and manipulation do not have to be disclosed.
The only peace of mind that exists in our current food system seems a kind of Orwellian trick- it is weird to know where your food comes from. By making it normal to not know, you don’t have to worry about it too much. We are beginning to see cracks in the sarcophagus with the occasional beef or peanut butter recall, the fear of food from China and the rise of local food on the fringes. But it is still mainly out of sight out of mind. Foodtree envisions a solution to the ills of our runaway food system by eliminating information asymmetry. You only need to see the origins of your food a few times to remind you that it is actually bizarre to NOT know the source of your food.
Want to be part of the solution? Foodtree is currently hiring whipsmart database and Rails wizards to join our small team. We’re in an early phase, so there is an opportunity to share the risks and rewards. We want more people like us, who care more about fixing our food system than a guaranteed paycheck. Email me  (anthony at if you are interested.
PS It would be great if you can work from our office in beautiful Vancouver, but it is not a requirement.

I do some db administration, but am not a wizard :o}. I am, however, passionate about local sustainable food and offer any/all of my skills that you think might help.
