Hi – First, great idea and blog! I look forward to following your journey. Second, regarding using coke “homeopathically”, it actually makes sense that it could work: homeopathy uses a ‘like cures like’ approach to healing. The idea is that you give a sick person something that would cause the same symptoms in a healthy person, and the sick person will get better. For example, quinine will make a healthy person develop malaria-type symptoms, so if you give it to someone with actual malaria, it cures them. In this way, it makes sense that Coke – which would upset the stomach of a healthy person – could serve to calm the stomach of someone who feels nauseous. That said, you can use actual homeopathic remedies to the same effect, without actually putting toxic crap in your body! Nux Vomica is the first remedy I try when my tummy is off. I never leave home without it. (unfortunately homeopathic remedies are most commonly sold in plastic bottles… you really can’t win)Good luck and enjoy your food adventure in Maui!Hélène
Fair enough, Mom. Thanks for reading, and keeping me in line. Thanks, Helene. I really appreciate your explanation of Coke as a homeopathic remedy. Now if we could only get more people to realize that it isn’t healthy to drink regularly…
